Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Finance and Administration, the Director of Finance and Technology leads a team of personnel managing INVO’s day-to-day transactional finance and IT activities as they relate to the intellectual property within INVO’s Intellectual Property Content Management System. The financial activities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reimbursement, license processing, distributions, post licensee compliance, and licensee relations. The IT activities include system administration, data integrity, business intelligence, and information systems. All activities are performed with the goal of delivering the highest quality of service to INVO’s customers (faculty, inventors, licensees, and university startups).
Financial Analysis and Reporting
Establishes proper accounting and audit trails for revenue and expenses related to INVO’s programs and initiatives.
Ensures proper monthly reconciliation and reports on current financial performance, impact on year-end forecast and opportunities and risks.
Prepares financial statements and reports as needed.
Oversees complex financial account reconciliations, statement analysis, and transaction research
Establishes and communicates the University calendar for daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting and financial processes.
Financial Transaction Management
Ensures compliance of INVO’s financial processes and systems including the implementation and monitoring of financial controls and training of personnel with financial responsibilities in accordance with all associated NU, local, state and federal rules and regulations.
Collaborates with INVO’s senior leadership on completion of annual fiscal year-end close.
Coordinates with other NU entities for proper recording of transactions.
Prepares consolidated financial statement to report final net position.
Oversees processing of all daily financial transactional activity.
Reviews status of related university unit accounts and processes; troubleshoots issues as needed.
Manages overall University general ledger chart field maintenance
Information Systems Management
Collaborates with INVO’s senior leadership on formulation of strategic plans and advancement of technology initiatives. Provides leadership to drive strategic and continuous improvement projects.
Collaborates with senior leadership to evaluate and provide business process optimization solutions. Executes on initiatives and streamlines processes to reduce resource investment needs while providing highest level of service.
Manages and oversees IT related projects, strategic planning of IT initiatives, requirements gathering, process diagrams, and communications with stakeholders.
Defines and documents functional, technical, and process requirements for software applications and tools. Designs, develops, tests, and deploys/maintains solutions as needed to support INVO’s mission.
Manages support for existing systems. Ensures INVO data quality through audit/analysis of system data to identify gaps, errors, and inconsistencies. Oversees data queries developed by staff.
Applies sophisticated knowledge and skills in the use and manipulation of data, experimental design, and industry best practices to support commercialization of intellectual property and other critical INVO operations.
Oversees the design and modeling of new databases as needed.
Oversees support for information technology needs of the INVO staff. Acts as liaison to ORIT and NUIT to ensure technology systems are available to meet objectives of strategic plan. Ensures necessary hardware, software, and network infrastructure technology services are implemented.
Collaborates with INVO senior leadership in developing IT strategy to meet mission and needs of the organization.
Manages INVO technology budget. Develops multi-year, annual, and project budgets to ensure that technology needs are addressed.
Oversees the selection, acquisition, configuration, implementation, and/or upgrade of hardware and software tools in the department.
Directs information system project management process including evaluation, migration, and implementation of projects
Leads project management of systems integrations requiring successful and timely collaboration between developers, system architects, and external vendors.
Directs project management of INVO Annual Report; Manages cross-functional team of internal personnel and external vendors
Supervision and Training
Supervises, trains, hires, evaluates, and provides work direction to team
Provides training and support to related INVO’s Intellectual Property Content Management System
Directs maintenance of website content and develops training materials.
In conjunction with INVO’s senior leadership, identifies current and future resource planning and allocation issues; Develops, leads, and supervises complex studies and analyses that will assist senior leadership in reaching resource planning and allocation decisions.
Processes and presents associated data and information through the application of sophisticated database, graphic and spreadsheet tools.
Ensures that service level goals are met.
Serves on relevant University Committees related to information technology areas described above.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in computer science or related field; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
