Description of Responsibilities: The Financial Analyst within the Finance Office shall be responsible for the coordination of all payments for contracted goods and services on campus. Working closely with our Facilities Services department, this individual will ensure all contract payments are paid timely and accurately and in accordance with New York State guidelines. The analyst will also assist in the reconciliation and balancing of bi-weekly payroll for the institution, prepare detailed financial analysis as requested by the Assistant Vice President, and coordinate and prepare reports and supporting documentation for the annual financial reporting package.
Additional responsibilities also include:
Prepare financial data for annual audits
Provide training and account management information to departmental staff
Assist with monthly recharge process including cataloging and processing account transfers
Create and analyze standard and ad-hoc queries and reports for annual budget preparation
Create new accounts within the general accounting chart of accounts as needed
The Financial Analyst interacts with all levels of College administration, faculty, staff and students as well as vendors, SUNY System Administration, and New York State Comptroller.
In addition, will be expected to display a commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.

Description of Department: Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President for Finance & Budget, the primary function of the Finance office is to serve as the primary payment center for the university. The office is responsible for the payment of all goods and services received at the institution as well as monitoring, managing and controlling the campus budget in excess of $110m. We serve as the counsel for all financial decisions and oversight of the Business Intelligence account data inquiry system.

Bachelor’s degree by time of appointment
3 years’ financial experience in a business office setting (i.e. accounting, billing, budget, finance)
Demonstrated high proficiency in Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Access)
Ability to multitask and prioritize competing priorities with a strong attention to detail
Strong oral and written communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
Experience in higher education setting
Knowledge of NYS payment procedures and policies
Experience with payment procedures related to construction contracts
