Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems
The University of Northern Iowa's College of Business Administration seeks applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Management beginning in August 2019. The successful candidate's primary teaching responsibilities will be courses in management information systems for undergraduate business students and MIS majors. Teaching assignments may include programming, database management, systems development and other related topics and courses. Candidates who are seeking a balance in teaching and research responsibilities in a collegial work environment with faculty actively engaged and committed to the growth and continuous improvement of the MIS program are encouraged to apply.
Requirements include Ph.D. in MIS or a related discipline from a nationally or internationally-recognized doctoral program. ABDs are welcome to apply with an expected degree completion date by August 2019. Required qualifications include a record of excellence in teaching with evidence of engaged and inspired classroom involvement; evidence of hands-on development experience; demonstrated ability to produce publishable research in business-related journals; and demonstrated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working as a member of a collaborative team and active participation in appropriate professional associations.

The Department of Management (business.uni.edu/management) consists of 20 faculty members and approximately 750 undergraduate students. The department has a long history of teaching excellence evidenced by the active engagement of our students. Faculty are committed to high quality scholarship, are well recognized in their fields and support the College’s commitment to the scholar/teacher model. The department is highly interdisciplinary, with faculty in Law, HR, Organizational Behavior, Strategy, International Business, Supply Chain and Operations Management, MIS, Leadership, and Ethics. Majors in the department include Management with emphasis in HR, Organizational Leadership, and Business Administration, Business Teaching, Supply Chain Management, and Management Information Systems. The department supports the MBA program, on campus and internationally.
The Management Information Systems (MIS) major is a highly applied major, preparing individuals to provide and manage information systems for processing and retrieving internal business information; select systems and train personnel; and respond to data requests. The major includes preparation in Business Application Development, Systems Analysis and Design, Database Management and Theory, Analytics, Big Data and Business Intelligence.
