Job Requisition Number: 25281. The Financial Systems team provides technical and functional support for the University's enterprise planning and reporting systems. CalPlanning is used to input, manage and report on the campus budget. Cal Answers provides reports, dashboards and ad hoc query access to the enterprise data warehouse (i.e. financial, student, human resources, payroll, procurement and research administration information). The team serves as a liaison between central Finance units (VCFIN), Information Systems and Technology (IS&T), campus-wide stakeholders and outside vendors for new projects, system enhancements, operations and maintenance. The team gathers and documents requirements, develops design specifications, develops system objects or coordinates technical teams responsible for development, performs functional testing and data validation, prepares and coordinates user acceptance testing, consults on communications and training and provides support after implementation. The team also manages security including access request and approval processes.
•Analyzes complex programs to make recommendations for new systems and/or enhancements, then formulates, implements and tests logic for new systems and/or system enhancements. •Performs coding, data loading, tests/debugs, operates and maintains complex programs including the campus budgeting and planning system (CalPlanning), the BFS Budget Systems and Ledgers (BIBS/PRT and Permbudg) and the Business Intelligence application(s) (Cal Answers). •Analyzes and implements report designs, conducts initial unit testing, develops test scripts for user acceptance testing and runs testing for campus functional users. •Develops and executes conversion and system implementation plans as needed, such as integrations with the campus ERP systems. •Prepares programming documentation and specs to support business processes such as monthly release activities (data copies, data loading, updates to report variables, etc.). •Maintains security configurations, tests changes and updates user security roles as needed. Coordinates and performs development activities needed to implement security. •Analyzes, installs, modifies and supports systems, databases and/or utilities software for Financial Planning & Analysis. •Supports campus financial system users as Tier 2 help desk support for Enterprise Budget and Planning and Business Intelligence systems. •May recommend changes in development, maintenance and system standards, train Financial Planning & Analysis users, maintain the website and wiki, and perform other duties for Financial Planning and Analysis information systems as assigned.•3+ years of analytical work in higher education or a similar large, complex institution, using PeopleSoft chart fields •Demonstrated professional experience using clear and effective oral, written and presentation communication skills. •Must be self-motivated, work independently or as part of a team, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines and demonstrate problem solving skills. •Demonstrated ability to work well with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. •Advanced experience and skills using: Excel, GoogleSheets, Microsoft Word, GoogleDocs, and Microsoft Access. •Experience with PeopleSoft Finance and/or Human Capital Management enterprise resource planning systems. •Familiarity with relational and star schema data models and query tools. •Experience with fund accounting; familiarity with Berkeley's chart of accounts preferred. •Expertise in data preparation, data loading and data analysis. •Possesses an advanced understanding of business systems and database technologies. •Possesses knowledge of application development and the IT enterprise environment. •Has knowledge of applications programming technologies, tools and protocols. •Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
