Reporting to the Senior Manager of Research Finance and Compliance in FAS Research Administration Services (FAS RAS). Responsible for reporting, training and monitoring compliance with policies, procedures, and systems related to post-award sponsored research administration.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the development and reporting of year over year sponsored financial planning for FAS
Analyze complex data, ensure data quality, perform research, understand trends, make sound recommendations for problem solving and escalate as necessary.
Perform monthly compliance reporting on various high risk sponsored research areas
Support in the creation, development and the delivery of training programs for administrators on research finance, regulatory matters, and systems (including GMAS, FASSPAR, ecrt, SPECTRA, FAS Core Assets, PI Dashboard and OBIEE - Oracle Business Intelligence).
Work with the Office for Sponsored Programs and other internal clients to meet reporting and other compliance needs
Support for the annual Uniform Guidance audit (formerly A-133), internal RMAS audits and other agency external audit
Assist the Research Finance team with communication of analysis with appropriate departmental, centers, and FAS staff and faculty
Help build relationships and sharing of best practices between sponsored funds managers within FAS, and to strengthen communications with Harvard Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and FAS Finance.
Serve as back-up for other post-award personnel in their absence.
Coordinate meetings for the Research Finance and Compliance team as needed.
Other duties as required.
Research AdministrationServices (RAS) supports the research and scholarly activities of FAS and SEAS faculty in collaboration with research andadministrative staff. RAS support areas include: 1) Strategic services for faculty seeking grant funding; 2) Sponsored research proposal development, review, award and financial management; 3) Creation, implementation and upkeep of research policy, systems, and procedures; 4) Professional development of researchers and research administrators; 5) Research integrity guidance; 6) Compliance monitoring and audit support; and 7) Administrative staffing for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Committee on Research Policy (CRP), & Committee on Professional Conduct (CPC).

Minimum of 3 years of related experience in financial management, accounting or research / grants administration or other related experience. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting or finance principles and practices in a commercial or non-profit setting.
Bachelor's degree preferred. Strong Microsoft Office skills required with strong proficiency in Excel. Knowledge of sponsored research finance desirable. Knowledge of federal research regulations desirable. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Ability to work as part of team and to interact collaboratively with administrators. Ability to handle complex and confidential information with the utmost discretion. Working knowledge of Harvard University systems (including GMAS and financial systems) and research administration policies desirable.
