- Completed Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field of study - 5-7 years of experience in database design and administration, programming, query-writing, and report development using analytics/BI tools - Advanced SQL querying skills and working knowledge of data warehouse/database tools - Demonstrated knowledge of data warehouses and reporting tools, including schema design, ETL standard practices, and user acceptance testing - Experience creating multi-dimensional designs for accessing data and presenting information using analytical/BI reporting applications, such as Blackboard Analytics reporting tools, Tableau, SAS Visual Analytics - Strong project management skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy - Excellent communication and presentation skills - Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, and students - Ability to operate with a high level of independence, routinely making critical decisions and exercising sound judgment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will: - Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain BI solutions through use of Blackboard Analytics, Tableau, and other reporting tools - Serve as the primary point of contact between IRAP and ITS (Information Technology Services) for the design, construction and support of the data warehouse - Create and maintain crosswalks and code descriptions as well as develop and/or consult on reporting views in the university data warehouse - Play a key role in the development of appropriate data views and models to improve the efficiency of data extraction - Implement the data warehouse and reporting solution using Microsoft technologies (i.e., T-SQL, SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS and SSRS) - Provide the technical frameworks and support for Blackboard Analytics customizations - Serve as campus technical lead for the UNC System Office Student Data Mart (SDM) - Manage implementation of future code releases for Student Data Mart - Develop and maintain processes to digest output from the Student Data Mart to be used in both error handling and reporting - Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues in IRAP and ITS, as well as campus faculty, staff, and administrators to identify opportunities for improved and dynamic reporting solutions - Integrate feedback into application enhancements to further facilitate the usability of all applications and reports
- Completed Master's degree in computer science, data analytics, information systems, or related field of study - 8-10 years of experience in database design and administration, programming and query-writing, report development using analytics/BI tools - Knowledge of relational and dimensional data modeling (such as star schemas, snowflakes, normalized and de-normalized models) - Experience performing advanced statistical analysis and predictive modeling - Relevant experience in a higher education institution - Direct experience with Blackboard Analytics and Tableau
