The Brown University Division of Advancement seeks qualified applicants for the position of Director of Advancement Information Services.
The Director of Advancement Information Services (AIS) will provide technical leadership that will enable the Division to effectively achieve its goals in fundraising and constituent engagement. The Director will oversee a team that provides support and enhancements to major systems such as Brown Universityâ™s official alumni and donor constituent relationship management system, data warehouse and reporting, email marketing and communications systems, interactive web sites, online payment processing and event registration services.
This position is a direct report to the Vice President of Advancement Services and Development Support in the Advancement Division. The Director of AIS works closely with Advancement leadership and other business units to ensure that the systems, processes and services provided by AIS are aligned with the goals and prioritized needs of the Division, Additionally, the Director acts as the Divisionâ™s liaison to Computing and Information Services (CIS), facilitating effective partnership and collaboration with the Universityâ™s wider technical community and promoting institutional compliance and policies related to computing and records security, privacy, confidentiality and protection of restricted and sensitive information throughout the Division.
Specific functional units reporting to the Director include: Web and application development, data warehouse and reporting, and application support.
Bachelorâ™s degree in a relevant field required. Equivalent combination of education and experience, with demonstrated education and/or competencies in Computer Science, Information Systems, Database Design and Management, Business Intelligence, or other related fields.
Minimum 10 years of technical and project management experience demonstrating progressive responsibilities in a complex organization, preferably in higher education. Advancement or Higher Education experience highly desired.
Minimum of 5 years direct supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to effectively lead, inspire, mentor, recruit, retain and develop a goal-oriented professional and technical staff.
Broad-based technical experience in areas such as: information and data delivery, data and solution architecture, web programming and applications, relational databases, client/server environments, systems management, operating systems
Strong organizational and analytical skills with ability to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate and advance strategic plans and associated budgets that support the Universityâ™s IT mission and contribute to the overall goals and objectives of the Division.
Must demonstrate ability to present information in formal and informal settings, deliver presentations and high-level management reports and impart understanding of complex ideas to others.
Superior interpersonal skills with proven ability to successfully interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner, exhibiting excellent written and oral communication skills, negotiating skills, team-building skills, and demonstrating tact and diplomacy working with a wide variety of personalities.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work independently and proactively, yet function in a collaborative team environment, exhibiting self-reliance, dependability, trustworthiness, good listening skills, and an ability to form effective working partnerships with colleagues throughout the University.
High degree of professionalism ethical sensitivity and discretion; ability to maintain a commitment to confidentiality; apply good judgment and proven responsible decision-making skills.
Ability to balance diverse and possibly conflicting expectations, manage multiple projects and priorities and meet challenging and changing deadlines.
Ability to work under pressure in support of business units operating under strict deadlines and operational goals.
