The Professional Science Master's Program (PSM) and the Rutgers Discovery Informatics Institute (RDI2) invite applications for a full-time one-year renewable Non-Tenure Track Assistant Research Professor (academic year) with interest in analytics, information visualization, and advanced computing.
Beginning Fall 2018, the Assistant Research Professor will be responsible for instructing/co-instructing courses in the following areas: information technology, business intelligence, visual analytics, high performance computing, and tableau.
In addition to the teaching responsibilities, the position will also be required to conduct direct rigorous research studies and program evaluations for the Rutgers Discovery Informatics Institute. Research will be focused on Computational and Data-Enabled Science and Engineering around the integration of the key areas of multidisciplinary research, industry engagement and economic development, and advanced Cyber-Infrastructure Ecosystem.
Principal responsibilities include:
Instructing/co-instructing course(s) within the field(s) of information technology, business intelligence, visual analytics, and tableau for the Professional Master's Program (PSM) for both the fall and spring terms.
Assist with curriculum development, conduct workshops when necessary, academic advising, review and provide constructive feedback to students, provide mentorship and counseling when necessary, as well as critical instruction regarding student work and academic standards.
Adopt innovative educational practices
Participate in local and external service activities, which may include recruitment programs and any departmental, school, and university function
Develop and design research studies and program evaluations for the Rutgers Discovery Informatics Institute (RDI2)
Identify and support the development of new research and evaluation of projects and external funding opportunities, including writing grant proposals
Engage in strategic planning and assistance with research and evaluation portfolios, and overseeing quality control and improvement efforts of research projects.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Advanced degree in related areas (concentrations in analytics, information visualization, and advanced computing are preferred), experience teaching at the graduate level in relevant coursework (teaching in online platforms preferred). Outstanding communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
Doctorate degree preferred.
Applicants will be expected to a develop strong, externally-funded research program and should have experience in grant writing.
