Job Description: The Data Analyst is responsible for data analysis, reports, and dashboards to support the exploration, development, implementation, and assessment of institutional initiatives. This position gathers, synthesizes, and analyzes data from internal and external sources and interprets, contextualizes, and makes meaning from that data to inform planning and decision-making. The Data Analyst prepares visualizations and delivers presentations that communicate complex data clearly and efficiently to various audiences. Reporting to the Vice President for Strategy and Implementation, the Data Analyst works closely with the Business Intelligence Analyst. The Data Analyst is part of the Strategic Planning and Implementation team and works collaboratively with the information technology, institutional research, enrollment management, budget, and finance offices.
Gathers current and historic data from multiple internal and external sources, synthesizes and analyzes data to contextualize, benchmark, make meaning, and inform planning and decision-making.
Models academic programs and initiatives aimed at generating revenue and reducing costs during their exploratory phase.
Designs and develops presentations and dashboards to communicate complex data, findings, and trends visually and efficiently to a variety of audiences
Applies best practices in the use of technologies and applications for the collection, integration, and presentation of business information in support of strategic initiatives.
Serves as a member of a team of data stewards tasked with data quality management including data cleansing, deduplication, error reporting, data definitions and dictionary, reports inventory and functional and technical specifications library, data access and security.
Participates in special projects as assigned.
Bachelor's degree, with a minimum of three years of data analysis experience, including hands-on experience designing and developing reports and dashboards.
Demonstrated ability to retrieve, transform, prepare and facilitate the use of data and analysis to inform business decisions on multiple levels.
Experience with SQL, database querying, and data visualization tools, i.e. Tableau and an advanced proficiency in the use of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and the ability to work collaboratively and/or independently toward project completion.
Must be conscious of data confidentiality, security and risk management.
Analytical acumen and a research-oriented, inquisitive mindset with a proactive, hands-on approach to meeting data requests.
Successful experience in project management, including organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously, ability to accommodate shifting priorities, and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively with technical staff and non-technical staff.
Must have an even disposition and be able to work effectively and professionally with various constituencies from multiple backgrounds and experience levels and in all types of situations.
Must be authorized to work in the United States; if you hold a visa, your visa status must allow you to work at Lesley University.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science.
Experience in higher education.
Technical experience with the Ellucian Colleague Information System,
Facility with US Department of Education's IPEDS system/data.
