Position Summary: The Pharmacy Data Analyst will work as an integral member of the Data Analytics and Pharmacy team to develop, coordinate, and interpret data and information to support quality pharmaceutical care in a value-based environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Track therapeutic problems identified and documented within the electronic medical record.
Identify barriers to medication adherence and provide solutions to enable patient success.
Partner with other health care providers to help coordinate medication- related care.
Ensure customer needs are met, including complaint resolution and delivery of quick and efficient service.
Works as an integral member of the pharmacy team to develop processes to understand medication utilization and contract performance to ensure optimal clinical outcomes at the most cost effective level are supported by pharmacy data analytic tools.
Ability to combine knowledge of clinical standards of practice, documentation requirements, and clinical interventions, with the knowledge of computer technologies to develop and administer clinical decision support.
Aggregates and evaluates pharmacy and medical data to produce actionable intelligence. Is able to effectively communicate findings to multiple stakeholders.
Conducts pharmacoeconomic analysis for respective CHESS clients in regards to drug utilization at the site of service, provider, and patient levels.
Participates in the development, monitoring, and evaluation of EMR clinical decision support for medication use.
Participates in quality improvement activities to improve patient care, medication safety and pharmacy operations.
Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs and conferences, and participates in committees as requested.
Adheres to CHESS policies, standards of practice, State and Federal regulations, and accrediting body requirements and regulations. Role Qualifications:
Knowledge of current pharmaceuticals, disease state management, and medical technologies.
Ability to reason and make quality professional judgment decisions based on pharmaceutical knowledge.
Skilled in data aggregation and interpretation to provide analysis of pharmacy and medical data to produce information to improve clinical outcomes, cost control, and system optimization.
Knowledge of computer systems and applications including Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel, Access), and EMR systems (with training).
Knowledge of common safety hazards and universal precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Ability to foster relationships and work effectively and professionally in a team environment.
Demonstrates strong customer service skills, including phone and email etiquette, problem solving, and customer interactions.
Knowledge of current regulatory, licensing, and legislative practices in pharmacy.
Experience with business intelligence and data analysis systems e.g. SQL, SSMS, SSRS, Tableau, and Microsoft Power BI.
Ability to follow organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
Education and Experience:
Graduate of accredited school of pharmacy. Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Current NC state pharmacy license. At least 2 years of experience in a health system or managed care pharmacy, and/or completion of a pharmacy residency in ambulatory care, drug information, pharmacy administration, managed care, or clinical informatics.
Professional experience in data analytics, translational informatics, and/or pharmacy informatics is required.
