HITS Analytics is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to perform data analysis and problem solving in a complex healthcare environment using clinical and administrative data to deliver healthcare information to support our customers across Michigan Medicine. The candidate will collaborate with internal team members, as well as partner with customers to evaluate their needs and determine appropriate information solutions. The candidate will translate business requirements into technical specification documents and develop detailed work plans, schedules, project schedules, project estimates, and status reports. The candidate will adhere to internal team standards, guidelines, and workflows. The candidate will also learn internal organizational processes, as well as contribute to the advancement of analytics and data delivery in our organization and ultimately help others in a similar journey.

Analytics Services and Support:
Interact with customers, the appropriate MiChart (Epic) teams, and internal team colleagues to understand and define information requirements.
Successfully evaluate, query, integrate, and manipulate data from multiple data sources as needed to develop reporting and analytics solutions.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain data delivery and information deliverables
Act as liaison between customer and HITS organizational partners
Communicate status to internal leadership and customer
Contribute knowledge to team members and customers to advance data and information understanding.
Education and experience: BA or BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Informatics, Business Administration or an equivalent degree in another field with related experience.
5 years of extensive healthcare experience, preferably in data analysis or data management
3 years of experience in requirements gathering and data analysis
3 years of experience in technical query writing and data integration skills using PL/SQL, Informatica, or similar tools
Experience with documenting and analyzing workflow and clinical processes
Knowledge of analytical tools, business intelligence tools, and statistical packages
Proficiency in data manipulation and extraction techniques
Strong understanding of relational data models
Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability
Ability to plan and facilitate meetings with diverse participants
Qualified individuals must be able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally to clients, peers, management and vendors. Candidates must also be able to communicate business requirements to technical staff and technical concepts to business staff, demonstrate a high tolerance for complexity and ambiguity as well as the ability to identify tasks and complete them with limited supervision.
3 or more years programming in complex technical environments - emphasis on health care.
3 or more years’ experience with Oracle DBMS and SQL development tools.
3 or more years’ experience with data visualization and reporting tools, specifically Tableau.
Certification in an Epic Data Model
Demonstrated understanding of common software development methodologies and best practices
Experience implementing solutions in the healthcare regulatory environment (HIPAA)
