The Research Manager ensures that we have access to the most useful donor information as well as the analysis that directly impacts our cultivation strategy and asks. The research manager also supports our stewardship initiatives to increase donors Life Time Value and enhance their giving experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide business intelligence on current, prospective and past donors to raise funds for the School.
Screen the CLS databases and other data sources to identify new prospects with potential for annual gifts, major/campaign gifts and legacy gifts on an ongoing basis.
Provide research and event-briefing documents, in advance of and in time for review, for development events, meetings and solicitations.
Ensure that CLS utilizes best in class resources and industry processes for our prospect research.
Research and identify potential external support, including foundations and corporations.
Ensure members of the Development Office, other staff, faculty and volunteers, including board members have access to relevant data for cultivation, solicitation, and acknowledgement of giving.
Prepare reports on prospects, donors and the the impact of giving to support the mission of the School.
Create and regularly update gift acknowledgement letters and digital communication pieces.
Highlight endowment and named-fund use to donors and the School community.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree. Three or more years of related work experience, preferably at an independent school, college or non-profit organization.
Experience working with research, analysis and reporting on customer, donor or prospect profiles.
Or combination of equivalent experience, education, and training.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Microsoft Office suite, donor relationship management (CRM) and research systems.
Possess a high commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently.
Committed to high service, high touch interaction with the CLS community.
