As a Data Governance Analyst, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a focused team dedicated to helping to make the health care system work better for everyone. This position is a part of the Advanced Analytic Lab's Data Governance team that supports Optum Payment Integrity. In this role, you'll be involved in gathering, analyzing and evaluating requirements for data quality, data security and metadata solutions under our strategic Data Governance initiative. You will also create and maintain standards documents, detailed process flows, training programs, and partner with technology teams to implement data governance tools. You will be a key contributor and subject matter expert on OPI's data governance efforts. We are looking for a self-starter who can work effectively both in an office and in a virtual environment, and likes to have fun while performing at a high level for our customers. Primary Responsibilities: Identify and implement data governance best practices, and create, publish and maintain metadata, data quality and data security standards Establish metadata definition, calculation, review and approval processes to ensure strategic oversight for all business-critical attributes and KPIs Define the business processes and training needed to build and maintain data governance assets Partner directly with Data Stewards to ensure adoption of all governance requirements Define and build role-based decision and approval models for data security and access Define and deploy a data governance scorecard to manage the implementation and measure and monitor the efficacy of the program Implement data governance audits and controls Act as subject matter expert on data quality, data security and metadata May act as Project Lead/Scrum Master as necessary on projects Provide advanced end-user support on data governance assets and applications Build trust, credibility, and strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and customers Navigate and influence multiple cross-functional teams in a complex, matrix work environment Support other ad-hoc projects as needed
Required Qualification:Bachelor's degree in data management, data science, business or information systems, or equivalent work experience 5+ years of leading the requirements, design, development and deployment of complex data, data governance, reporting and/or business intelligence solutions 3+ years leading data governance, data quality, data security and/or metadata solutionsPreferred Qualifications:Expert level knowledge of data, data architecture, and data governance concepts Knowledge of data privacy regulations and data security risks and mitigations, specifically in the healthcare industry Ability to gather, interpret and apply critical thinking and analysis to data in support of decisions Ability to translate strategy into actionable plans Ability to measure and analyze data quality, detect trends and anomalies then develop plans to proactively improve data quality and strengthen existing processes Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to create comprehensive standard documents, process descriptions, training materials, and write clear and concise business definitions and descriptions Strong interpersonal skills suitable for interacting with various departments and all levels of management Excellent group meeting facilitation, task tracking and time management skills Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and deadlines Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools and technologies Experience working in a compliance function and/or within a regulatory environment Experience working in an Agile development environment Healthcare experienceCareers with Optum.
