As a Principal Data Analyst for Optum Payment Integrity you will you will work closely with Product Owners, Developers, Engineers and Data scientists to identify relevant data sources and possible delivery mechanisms. We need self-starter who can work in a virtual environment and likes to have fun while performing at a high level for our customers. You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: Create a cohesive Data Strategy that addresses Payment Integrity's requirements for sources, storage, and provisioning in conjunction with the Data Governance team Identify and consult on high complexity data structure and/or data content issues; design effective data solutions Depict highly complex ideas, issues and data designs to varied audiences; communicate project data objectives, scope and direction across project teams Perform routine data investigations to profile and analyze data sets to address data quality and integrity. Build and implement tools to monitor data quality, while ensuring high quality data solutions. Able to manage security mechanisms that enable data access restrictions With an advanced understanding of the principles of data quality management, including metadata, lineage, and business definitions, implements data governance procedures and policies - evaluate processes for gaps and inefficiencies and provide recommendations for improvement Demonstrate an understanding of the use of data to solve a business use case. Create an access strategy to ensure effective implementation across the enterprise. Develop and define data validation, verification, and reconciliation strategies to support data governance, stewardship, and security Be able to influence decision makers on the outcome of an initiative based on its perceived value. Works with stakeholders to define metrics that are impactful for the business Maintain close working relationship with data providers and partners, partnering with IT to collaborate on deliverables Help drive cross-team design and development of sustainable data driven solutions that meet the needs of the business customers through technical leadership and mentoring Design and develop architecture solutions to meet the technical and business requirements. Able to work with stakeholders to design and execute iterative solution testing to ensure desired product specifications are met Support development team throughout project lifecycle, including during test phase; researches test issues and data content, and assists with problem resolution Investigates and makes final recommendations on new data tools, strategies and techniques; collaborates on hardware/software evaluations Utilize programming and analytical tools including SAS, SQL, Netezza or similar relational database tools
Required Qualifications:4 year degree or equivalent experience 6+ years experience acquiring, analyzing, preparing and provisioning HealthCare claim data 6+ years working on Data Management teams working on implementations and governance (quality, metadata, security, lineage, etc.) 3+ years developing holistic data strategies with business and IT partners that address a business vision around using data to grow the business 2+ years with in SQL and RDBMS languages and tools 2+ years' of experience working with Agile development methodologies Preferred Qualifications:Hands on experience in working with large data sets and distributed computing (Hadoop & Cloud) Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools and technologies Experience working in a compliance function and/or within a regulatory environment Ability to work in one of the following offices: Eden Prairie, MN, Wauwatosa, WI or Franklin, TNCareers with Optum.
