Position Summary: The Enterprise Application Services group of Information Technology Services (ITS) is charged with the design, integration, development and maintenance of several system wide University applications. Applications supported within the team are the University of California Retirement System, the University's self service web site At Your Service Online, Endowment and Investment Accounting System and Corporate Systems.
Our team is small enough for you to make a meaningful contribution, but big enough to challenge your technical and professional skills. You will have the ability to make a difference and have influence in our software development life cycle and overall practices.
The Information Systems Analyst designs, develops, integrates, modifies, debugs, deploys and evaluates complex software, scripts and web services. Creates systems specifications for complex systems to meet end-user requirements. Performs complex data analysis and analyzes the design and use of complex data sources. Prepare time estimates, develop conversion and/or integration plans as well as system implementation plans.
This is a 24 month contract appointment.

Duty 1: Designs, develops, modifies, debugs, deploys and evaluates complex software and scripts. Develop loosely coupled object-oriented solutions that are highly testable, modularized, and reusable. Develop solutions that leverage existing enterprise frameworks, align with the overall enterprise architecture and vision, and are compliant with the established coding standards and other development principles. Work with multiple stakeholders to develop solutions against the departmental road-map. Mentor team members who are less experienced. Function:Design and Development Percent: 35
Duty 2: Identifies, evaluates and develops complex systems, processes and procedures. Develops complex user interface designs. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system and process logic issues as necessary. Documents intricate software and processes. Creates project plans. Function:Business Planning Percent: 25
Duty 3: Creates technical design documents, test plans for applications developed, prepare time estimates, develop conversion and/or integration plans as well as system implementation plans. Review and prepare flow-charting and data analysis for existing applications for potential inclusion into an existing application framework and/or building out a new application framework that could be utilized by several applications Function:Workstream Planning Percent: 25
Duty 4: Collaborate with core team members, subject matter experts and business partners. Proactively engages other ITS teams in cross-functional efforts. Openly shares plans and strives to prevent surprises within and across the organization. Communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner. Understands and communicates with business partners in business terms and uses this understanding to assure the business partner's understanding of work status, risks, issues and proposals. Job Requirements Highly proficient with Microsoft technologies including T-SQL, SQL Server, database modeling (with large database), SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, database administration, IIS 7.5, java script, JQuery, and JSon. Minimum of 5-8 years experience in SSIS, SSRS and SSAS. Required
Experience in cross platform solutions which utilize a variety of technologies and experience in identifying and documenting the best technical solution for each business requirement. Required
Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs. Required
Deep experience in the SQL Server business intelligence and information processing such as data integration, reporting and analysis. Experience with logical data design and data mapping or data conversion. Required
Strong experience designing and working with n-tier architectures (UI, Business Logic Layer, Data Access Layer) along with service-oriented architectures (SOA) Required
Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms and translate complex business rules into technical designs. Required
Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent/related functions. Required
Ability to perform source code management and application build and deployment using tools like GitHub and TFS. Experience building automated test scripts for work delivered. Required
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training Required
Knowledgeable with working within AZURE and or AWS Preferred
