The Senior BusinessObjects Administrator is responsible for the design, installation, configuration and maintenance of the BusinessObjects environment that supports the vital reporting needs of UW Medicine and multiple affiliate organizations such as SCCA and Seattle Children's Hospital. This position is responsible for providing the infrastructure for BI Developers, power users and end users.
This is a technical role and requires an in-depth knowledge of how to administer the BusinessObjects platform. In addition, knowledge of the various tools within the BusinessObjects suite (e.g., Crystal, WebI, Analysis for OLAP, etc.) is important for this position. These skills will be applied in attending to the day-to-day administration of the BusinessObjects reporting platform as well as in providing technical leadership and planning to meet the organizations future business intelligence needs. The BusinessObjects Administrators are a key technical resource for developers and end users. In addition they are recruited by project managers and resource managers to help with project planning and estimating.
The organizational demand for high-quality business intelligence continues to grow and administering the platform used by developers to produce the content and end-users to access it is vital to the success of the organization as a whole. The system supports reporting used for financial, clinical and regulatory daily operations as well as high-level planning and decision-making. The Senior BusinessObjects Administrator is patient-focused, ensuring that the BusinessObjects platform meets or exceeds the patient's need by working closely with internal and external customers across UW Medicine and its affiliates
Administer the BusinessObjects Reporting Environment (50%)
Design, install, upgrade, configure and administer BusinessObjects products including Crystal, WebI, Analysis for OLAP, and may include other products.
Provide expert assistance and guidance on BOE tool and system related issues to report developers.
Cordinate with System and Network Administrators for architecture and firewall changes.
Monitor BusinessObjects environment to provide usage and performance metrics.
Act as a primary technical contact to BusinessObjects for support and enhancement issues.
Develop innovative solutions and provide responsive operational support.
Anticipate potential problems and proactively recommend solutions.
Plan, design, deploy and implement SAP BOE Platform in a clustered environment.
Scale and size the platform based on usage or any new requirements.
Install support packs or fix packs and coordinate with ITS Developers on regression testing.
Monitor SAP BO BI 4.2 Platform for availability and make sure it meets the SLA.
Troubleshoot issues reported by developers and users and provide root cause analysis for the issues reported. Escalate issues to SAP as needed.
Add new users and promote objects to QA and PROD from DEV.
Provide usage information of the BI Platform as requested.
Provide Technical Leadership for the BusinessObjects Reporting Environment (25%)
Accurately plan and schedule BusinessObjects administration projects.
Provide technical vision and leadership to developers, end users, resource managers, and project managers.
