Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) Dean's Office has an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Analyst to join the Financial Services Financial Accounting & Reporting team. This position will assist in completing and reviewing accounting transactions and system information to ensure the School maintains accurate and consistent financial data, assist in preparing school-level financial reports, collaborate with IUSM support units in the development and implementation of new financial reporting tools, and support cross-functional projects/tasks within the Financial Services team.

Responsibilities will include:
- Complete and review accounting transactions and system information to ensure the school maintains accurate and consistent financial data. Assist in preparing School-level financial reports used for internal and external reporting purposes.
- Review and create financial reports for the Dean's Office (including cash balances, budget to actual variances, and general fund balances) and work with financial analysts to ensure appropriate spending and investigate areas of concern. Collaborate with Financial Services team members and members of the business intelligence team in the creation and testing of new reports.
- Complete monthly accounting transactions for IUSM and maintaining databases used for batch uploads. These transactions include but are not limited to distributions of income and expenses, accrual and deferral entries, commitment transfers, and budget adjustments.
- Maintain a sound internal control environment for the Financial Accounting & Reporting team and extending to the wider Financial Services team. This includes working with the others in identifying risk areas and ensuring proper controls are in place. Assist with the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures.
As a representative of the Dean's Office, this individual will be expected to participate in activities that promote and maintain effective lines of communication, teamwork, and provides assistance with all other duties assigned.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Accounting, or Business/Public/Health Administration, plus 1 – 3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or business administration.
Note: Related internships will be considered as part of experience.
The successful candidate will have proficiency with formulas in Microsoft Excel, possess knowledge of financial accounting, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), financial analysis, and spreadsheet applications. Must also have the ability to quickly learn and adhere to applicable IU and IUSM guidelines as well as state and federal standards. Ability to interpret and present financial information to financial and non-financial users. Strong financial, analytic and problem solving capabilities and ability to see the broader implications of key decisions.
Database and payroll exposure/experience a plus.
