The primary function of this Senior Solution Engineer role is to help define, maintain and support our strategy, solutions and delivery execution as it relates to Health Information Technology solutions. The candidate hired must have extensive experience designing, architecting and implementing Health Information Technology solutions, including but not limited to: healthcare-related Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence; Health Information Exchange; Health Information Analytics; and, state Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) solutions. Experience in the public sector healthcare market is strongly preferred. As a Senior Solutions Engineer, you will be responsible for creating high quality Health Information Technology solutions for state and federal customers. You will be the expert in translating business objectives into solution requirements. Through the evaluation of new and existing technology and services capabilities, you will be responsible for making critical design decisions. In building each solution, you must consider factors important to business stakeholders, as well as Optum's strategic Health Information technology roadmap. Key decision factors for these projects will include cost, quality, time-to-market, and the continued expansion of Optum's Health Information Technology capabilities. The candidate hired must have extensive experience designing, architecting and implementing Health Information Technology solutions, including but not limited to: healthcare-related Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence; Health Information Analytics; and, state Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) solutions. Position Responsibilities: This leadership role includes as a primary function the provisioning of support to the sales and delivery teams and sales and delivery efforts to:Develop and maintain the HIT (Health Information Technology) solution portfolio for the appropriate Government market segment Create Solution Offerings and associated governance, sales and delivery artifacts Portfolio Governance: Requirements analysis, market analysis, solution viability, business and financial model, capital plans, client pipeline, etc. Sales Tool kit: Sales guide, client ready decks, competitive assessments, value propositions, differentiators, ghosting strategies, qualifications and references, demos, proof of concepts, etc. Delivery Toolkit: Solution Architecture, BOM and pricing, delivery estimation models, delivery methodology, solution blueprint artifacts, etc.Own and / or help manage the Solution opportunity pipeline, position solution along with sales team and support pre-sales efforts through the opportunity lifecycle for the solution Provide expertise in Data Warehousing, Data Mart and Business Intelligence Solutions and related implementations and operations for state government Lead and or assist in the development of solution strategies, approaches, architecture, products and related responses to RFIs and RFPs. Lead and / or assist in managing all proposal efforts to insure that the proposed solution is in alignment with Optum strategy and the customer requirements Assist in and / or lead the design of the overall HIT solution for prospects based on known customer requirements and preferences Liaise and negotiate within Optum for solution components and identify key external partners Assist in and / or lead the development of proposal text and graphics Work closely with the project teams providing them with Medicaid or Health & Human Services-related Data Warehousing / Business Intelligence and other Health Information Technology expertise needed for particular projects Identify, develop and maintain relationships with vendors, partners, prime contractors and subcontractors in the Health Information Technology space Act as a liaison between users and the project teams Participate in sales calls and presentations Conduct presentations and demonstrations for key clients Attend industry conferences and trade shows Write strong business proposals to assist sales with key ROI information Develop pioneering approaches to emerging industry trends Work closely with other IT or business-side resources to understand customer needs and to develop product roadmaps
Required Qualifications:8+ years of Data Warehousing / Business Intelligence and / or other Health Information Technology related experience in the areas of related solution definition, solution engineering and solution delivery. (Senior level hands-on skills and experience) 8+ years or more designing, architecting, engineering and delivering implementation solutions in the Health Information Technology space 5+ years experience and demonstrated ability to act in Leadership capacity by overseeing others and using exceptional judgment and decision making 3+ years or more government Medicaid or healthcare subject matter expertise 3+ years or more healthcare IT experience required with a strong preference for federal and state Healthcare Government experience 5+ years proven experience in systems integration Proven experience in identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with technical vendors, partners, prime contractors and subcontractors in the Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence and / or other Health Information Technology space In-depth expertise in creating and delivering presentations and writing / developing proposals Excellent communication and presentation skills for internal and external audiences Moderate travel (i.e., up to 30% travel in the US)Preferred Qualifications:Significant experience in healthcare related advanced analytics Significant proposal development experience, with government healthcare-related experience Experience with query, reporting, database and analytic business intelligence tools (e.g., Cognos, Business Objects, Oracle BI, Informatica, IBM SAS, SPSS, MapInfo, ESRI, IBM Rational Clear, ERwin, Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, Hadoop) Boston, MA or Rocky Hill, CT preferred but other locations may be consideredCareers with Optum.
