The Office of Finance and Treasury is seeking a senior data analyst responsible for complex and high quality data analysis and presentation. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Planning, Budget, and Analysis, the senior data analyst will provide data analysis and modeling, business intelligence, financial planning, and operational reporting. The work requires a highly motivated individual with proven ability to synthesize data analyses into business recommendations and effective communications. In addition to ad hoc analyses, the senior data analyst will help strengthen the financial planning capabilities within Finance and Treasury and across the university and will develop and implement new data-driven management tools, such as scorecards and dashboards.
The successful candidate must be able to work as a team player and manage projects related to the analysis of internal data and provide value-added critical-thinking using independent judgment, strategic thinking, and problem solving skills. This individual should be fluent in extracting, analyzing, and preparing reports of database information, statistics, and financial figures. S/he must be able to work under tight deadlines for high visibility deliverables such as presentations on behalf of the Provost and Vice President for Finance. The role presents a unique opportunity to learn about and contribute to Princeton's financial operations.
Manage and coordinate the delivery of accurate, methodologically rigorous financial data analysis.
Create reports and presentations for internal and external audiences, which present University financial data and secondary information in a clear and compelling manner.
Interact with senior management to provide data analysis in support of strategic financial initiatives and planning.
Contribute to the development of long-term plans and strategic objectives for the organization and identify, analyze, and monitor issues that affect plans.
Support the development of financial analyses and reports for the University's Board of Trustees and the Cabinet.
Develop data-driven management tools, such as scorecards and dashboards, in support of key initiatives and business processes.
Five-seven years in finance, economics, business analytics, or related business-oriented quantitative analytics experience.
Expert skills in Excel, including pivot tables and macros
Excellent ability to translate data into effective presentations using PowerPoint or Word
Good oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate complex analyses.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
Familiarity with PeopleSoft and its reporting tools (query, nVision)
Experience with statistical modeling tools, such as Stata and SPSS
Experience with Tableau
Project management experience
Experience in higher education
