STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The EDP Systems Analyst I reviews, analyzes, and upgrades systems and processes related to college operations in the use of the Ellucian Banner administrative system (ERP) as well as other related software systems. The analyst will work closely with staff and faculty to create, maintain, and enhance reports and processes and ensure the integrity of data maintained in administrative systems.
SUPERVISION REQUIRED: Reports to the Director of Enterprise Systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with staff and faculty at all college locations to assess needs, enhance existing and design new reports, and develop programs to promote expanded use of the ERP system.
Works with the community to determine the feasibility of and respond to requests involving all areas of technology.
Works collaboratively within ITS to maintain the availability and integrity of college systems.
Develops test plans for programs or systems and monitor issues with existing systems including vendor research, filing support requests with vendors, and following up on results until problems are resolved.
Develops and maintains documentation of systems, procedures, and user guides.
Provides training on the use of the ERP system and custom-developed work.
Participates in the planning for and work required to complete software system upgrades.
Evaluates programs to assure compliance with college, state, and Federal standards.
Keeps abreast of technical and industry-specific developments (e.g. business intelligence, portal-based technologies, customer relationship management, etc.).
Maintains confidentiality surrounding information accessed, stored, or processed.
Prepares projects status reports to keep the College informed of activities.
Actively participate in collaborative activities with peer institutions.
Performs related duties as requested by supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in electronic data processing work the major duties of which included computer programming and/or computer systems analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
I. An Associate's degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*
II. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in related area or computer and/or information science may be substituted for the required experience.*
III. A diploma for completion of a two year full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized non-degree granting business or vocational/technical school above the high school level with a major in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*
IV. An official transcript from a recognized business or vocational/ technical school as evidence of completion of a program consisting of at least 650 hours of instruction in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
V. Graduation from the data processing course of a recognized vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
*Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
Experience writing specifications and programs for reports processes and functionality; established experience in database design and development within a relational database such as MS SQL Server (T-SQL) or Oracle (PL/SQL, Pro*C, and Forms) within a multi-platform environment including UNIX, Linux, and Windows; demonstrated experience with web technologies such as Java, Groovy, Tomcat, WebLogic, or other contemporary tools; knowledge of student and financial information systems, applications, or other closely related administrative systems; ability to work independently with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body, as well as, peers and supervisors; demonstrated oral and written communication skills; adapts to and embraces the continuous evolution in the technology field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Practical knowledge of Evisions Argos or other business intelligence (BI) platform; demonstrated experience with application deployment and integration in a higher education environment; demonstrated experience with Ellucian Banner software applications, including the BDMS, Travel & Expense, Degree Works, or related technical experience in higher education and ability to speak a language in addition to English.
