Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning, this position advances Edmonds Community College’s culture of evidence and inquiry by providing sound and robust data analysis, predictive modeling, and information management for college administrators and faculty. This work will be accomplished by conducting and critiquing difficult, complex, and innovative institutional research studies and by responding to information requests from internal and external entities. This position will also serve as a critical link among the college’s Institutional Research office, the Strategic Enrollment Management office, the Student Services division, and the Instructional division and will help facilitate effective information-related communication and collaboration among these areas.
Assist with constructing an annual institutional research plan.
Collaborate with the strategic enrollment management (SEM) office, instructional leadership team members, the student services leadership team, and the college’s business/finance office to develop and maintain predictive models and forecasts for various enrollment categories. These models may require the integration of data from numerous, complex data systems as well as information that has yet to be collected into a digital format.
Participate with other team members to help develop and help maintain reporting systems and dashboards, utilizing business intelligence tools.
Assist with designing and conducting research and surveys that support decision-making related to the college’s planning, teaching, support, and budget processes. This may include the following: accreditation; enrollment forecasts; evaluation of institutional effectiveness; classroom learning assessment; student success; retention; community characteristics; program development; grant applications and projects; marketing; policies; state and federal reporting; and other related areas.
Assist with developing and maintaining documentation of all dynamic IR reporting and web pages to provide access to reports and data.
Understand and assess data quality in college databases and appropriately report data entry errors and discrepancies.
Assist in responding to reporting requirements from governmental agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Education (IPEDS and Gainful Employment reporting) and the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (student, employee, and financial reporting).
Utilizing a variety of visualization methods, appropriately disseminate and present data and information to a variety of college users, in ways suitable to support decision making.
Assist with fostering data literacy among college consumers of data, helping to guide understanding of data, implications, and definitions.
Operate a variety of software packages used on mainframe and personal computers for data analysis, data management, graphics, and word processing.
Write multi-table database queries, using both legacy and new technologies.
Maintain currency in data analysis trends with a desire to continue growth in understanding new trends and practices.
Communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team to analyze and interpret data and to assist with fulfilling routine and ad hoc data requests in a timely manner.
Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with standards, mission, and goals of Edmonds Community College.
Understand and accept the role to be played as a partner in an educational enterprise serving the best interests of the students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This is an exempt position reporting directly to the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Duties are performed in an office setting in an educational institution. Position requires 6-8 hours per day working at a computer; occasional twisting, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds; finger manipulation, typing, grasping, repetitive motion; working in an open office environment with frequent interruptions and distractions; thinking clearly in stressful situations; working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; exercising independent judgment in gathering and evaluating program data.
The salary range is $68,300 - $74,600 and is based on the current administrative/exempt salary schedule, with placement based on education and experience. The college provides an excellent benefits package including 24 vacation leave days per year.

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
One year experience managing, extracting, analyzing, and presenting data.
Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, JMP, or Python).

A Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
At least three years of responsible research, analysis, and report presentation experience.
Experience working with structured query language (SQL); using SQL utilization software (e.g., SSRS, SSMS); and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
Experience with quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research methodology and data analysis;
Understanding of methods and techniques of inferential statistical analysis, including procedures related to sampling, correlation analysis, projections, and other quantitative measures applied to education, social and program research, and evaluation.
Experience with maintaining data confidentiality and security, and adhering to research ethics
Experience actively enhancing a work environment that embraces diversity and diverse perspectives.
