The Sr. Business Intelligence (BI) Developer position exists to provide technical development of analytics and reporting solutions for the Clinical Practice Association (CPA). The position will have a broad scope that entails analytic and reporting projects from CPA leadership to meet operational and financial goals for the CPA and JHM enterprise initiatives. This position will work closely with business operations and finance leaders and their staff to understand how data can be effectively used. This position serves as a technical leader on complex dashboarding, reporting, and business intelligences projects; and a high degree of initiative and autonomy is expected with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
This position will develop, test, and implement new and enhanced reports/tools, define new data aggregation views, working with key stakeholders to develop and enhance the quality and presentation of operational metrics, trend analyses, and statistical models. Responsible to ensure that an Analytic/BI industry standard system development life cycle project management technique is used in all application development, implementation, and enhancements. JHM is a highly decentralized environment with staff working in a matrixes environment as part of the IT team or part of a customer led team. Agility to handle multiple priorities from different customers across JHM entities is required for success in this role.
Responsible for full life-cycle of large/long-term highly complex projects. Typically manages multiple projects of varying complexities. Based on expert technical knowledge, skills and experience, develops broad-based solutions involving multifaceted technologies, and business processes. Leads overall strategy, design & architecture for solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide expert BI development and support for the CPA datamart team and end user community Collaborate with developers and end-users to understand requirements and specifically, how the desired products and deliverables drive the system architecture and data model. Work closely with data owners and data warehousing teams to understand various data sources. Design and development of the architecture for all data visualization components to include dashboarding, drill downs, automated reports, business intelligence and logic. Configuration, design and implementation of dashboard and analytic tools to support visual representation of operational and financial data. Develops data and metadata policies and procedures to build, maintain and, leverage the data model. Enriches data with classifications and roll-ups to support analytics; building expressions and calculations; working with stewards to clearly define and document definitions and metadata. Solves complex technical problems related to dashboard design, reporting solutions, and business intelligence tools. Supports the development and operation of the BI environment and the users on these systems so that the capabilities of the systems are effectively utilized for the benefit of goals and objectives. Assists in the research and development of new business intelligence tools and techniques for analytic projects.
Accountable for capacity planning activities in dashboarding and reporting tool and related analytical platforms. Work closely with IT team members (Data/System Architect, Senior Software and Software Engineer) to execute projects and daily support and to perform cross coverage of duties. Perform different roles in BI projects – Analyst, Data Profiler, Developer, Tester, Architect, ETL, and User Experience. Will manage and perform projects with varying size of user base. Some small, targeted developer-focused initiatives, others with initial user base of 20- 50 users; and projects with several hundred users. Gathers requirements and use cases from end users for visualization of data and reporting outputs. Reviews project requests describing (BI) user needs to estimate effort to accomplish project. Work with business and IT management to understand and prioritize data and information needs. Provides
