Capital Planning & Development ("CPD") is forming a new organization Capital & Space Management (CSM) to integrate management of its capital resources, its physical assets, and its space information through a unifying strategic portfolio management approach branded as the One Capital Plan.
We have an outstanding opportunity for a Database Administrator (DBA) to support CPD's data platform, which comprises a wide range of business applications including building portfolio management, GIS, custom web applications, and other related business applications.
This position will work with multiple teams within CPD and need to balance competing demands and priorities. Knowledge of Microsoft SQL server, and related tools, is critical.
CPD's goal is to become a data-driven based organization. The UW would like to have more accurate datasets pertaining to its capital assets, and from that, be able to forecast future space needs, address risks, and support the operations of many schools and units.
90% SQL Server Database Management:
Install, test, and update multiple versions of RDBMS software, including SQL Server, in both single-instance and high availability methodologies.
Understand, monitor, and administer database security and perform the role of gatekeeper.
Perform optimization and performance tuning.
Configure, maintain, and monitor disaster recovery environments for hosted database platforms.
Contribute to the refinement of standards and best practices for database operations in a private hosted cloud setting.
Periodically provide on-call weekend support across both Saturday and Sunday.
Learning new platforms and technologies as they are introduced into our environment.
10% Related Duties:
Special Projects assigned by the Director.
Provide Policy and process recommendation for service and business improvement.
Support LEAN activities, when needed.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science or related field.
Six to eight years of relevant experience.
Experience with SQL Server, ETL, SSRS, SSAS, Windows Server environments, Scripting, database clustering.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Familiarity with Business Intelligence, ideally Tableau and PowerBI.
Expert in AWS and/or Azure platforms.
Proficiency in MS Office Applications.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Can work independently and in a matrixed team environment.
