This role is responsible for working in Optum's Advanced Analytics Lab with teams to develop ELT processes, stored procedures, Unix shell scripts, diagrams, technical specifications, designs and test plans. The role will support multiple functional areas, conduct investigative data analysis, provide user technical support, tasks and support customers with SQL query tuning and education on best practices. This position will maintain responsibility for gathering requirements, designing and developing, creating documentation to support design and development, using SVN code repository, and timely execution of administrative tasks related to a Netezza Data Warehouse. The candidate is required to have excellent SQL development skills and previous Netezza Administrator experience. We need self-starter who can work in a virtual environment and likes to have fun while performing at a high level for our customers. Primary Responsibilities: Perform database performance analysis, capacity planning, system sizing and ongoing maintenance/tuning to ensure maximum performance on Netezza appliance platform Assist application development teams with planning and implementing database changes as well as query/job optimization Work closely with IBM support through ticketing system to manage hardware/software failures, appliance upgrades and install patches Participate in after-hours war-room calls if Netezza production server goes down working through disaster recovery plan this role will create Troubleshoots difficult database problems, including slow running queries Manage workload via prioritization, configuration and TWS job scheduling Create and maintain documentation including but not limited to standard operating procedures, functional specifications, detail design documents, high level solution summary documents, data and process flows, technical requirements, and impact assessments Work with multiple functional areas to understand captured business requirements to create technical requirements, test plans, design document and coding for the solution Support and develop ELT/ETL processes for Netezza including integrating error handling, audits, balance, job control, point in process restartability and ETL reporting Identify gaps in existing process documentation, or areas where processes in development need further specification then create it Prioritize and organize own work to meet deadlines across multiple projects and deliverables Deliver professional level technical work in support of the development of company products, tools, platforms and services Operates within established methodologies, procedures, and guidelines Applies knowledge of principles and techniques to solve technical problems Make recommendations about platform adoption, including database servers, application servers, libraries, and frameworks Help developers adopt Netezza through documentation, training, and mentoring Translates highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences Work toward improve process efficiency and automate processes where current manual still exist
Required Qualifications:4 year degree or equivalent experience (Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or related degree) 7+ years of experience with advanced SQL programming skills with ability to write programs against two or more of the following DBMS: Netezza, Teradata, SQL Server, DB2, or Oracle 6+ months of Netezza Administration experience 3+ years of datastage experience 3+ years of LINUX or UNIX Shell scripting 5+ years of experience in process analysis, systems analysis, data analysis, software development, or a combination of roles participating in SDLC and creating diagrams in MS VisioPreferred Qualifications:Healthcare claims data analysis experience Experience with programming in MapR Apache Hadoop using Yarn, Spark, Sqoop, Talend, HBase, Hive, Pig, Impala, or others Experience with Business Intelligence Experience with BASE SAS, SAS EG and/or Data Integration Studio Experience with version control code repositories Experience with TWS job scheduler Experience with ETL tools like SAS Data Integration Studio, Informatica, DataStage, SSIS, or otherCareers with Optum.
