AABB is recruiting for a Director, Information Technology (IT). The Director is responsible for the overall project management and operational excellence of all information systems (IS) and technology (IT) functions within the Association to support its activities, development and growth. The Director of IT provides direction of how technology will be applied to advance the mission of the association and plays a critical consultative role to support the operations, business intelligence, performance management, and reporting for the association. Activities include active management of the department, systems, projects and vendors to enable employees to deliver superior products and services to members with minimal disruptions. Directs the organization’s computer facilities and operations including telecommunications, software applications and internet/intranet systems.
Based in Bethesda, Maryland, this is a full-time, office-based position.
Aligns and directs IT objectives and programs to Association’s Strategic Plan and overall business objectives, including stated goals and objectives,utilizing metrics to measure improved efficiencies and success;
Leads and manages a results driven technology team and oversees required research and development, as well as project management. Develop and manage capital budget and other significant IT projects;
Designs and optimizes IS/T processes including standards, practices, and policies that address risk management and securitiy and governance;
Promotes new IT initiatives with relevant internal business owners, organization-wide team including solutions and advancements that increase customer and product/service base of the Association on time and within budget;
Recommends, in partnership with the CFO strategic IT provider (vendor) partnerships, optimizing external and internal resourcesin consultation with the senior management team;
Directs IT Manager and Business Systems Analyst;
Manages critical and complex projects from a strategic technical and practical, hands on perspective. Acts as a key technical advisor to project teams, providing research and novel approaches through on-going interaction with all staff members;
Prepares and develops presentations to all levels of management, providing recommendations to the senior management team;
Cultivates an effective network of internal and external customers, suppliers, technical communities, and consultants;
Represents the organization to external IT related contacts (vendors, etc.); and
Problem solves and provides an effective and responsive customer service model to support all employees (local and remote), customers and members.
Education – This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field. Master’s degree in Information Systems or related field is preferred.
Experience – Requires a minimum of 7 years of technical computing experience and a minimum of 3 years in a management level position. Working knowledge of Personify highly desirable.
Requires firm understanding of current best-in-breed technology solutions, market pressures/trends. Ability to understand and work with quality systems;
The ability to successfully lead complex projects through to completion managing both internal and external resources. Focus on results driven project success including, but not limited to, budget thresholds and time constraints;
Strong project management skills with proven track record of success in formal management of complex projects;
Knowledge of computer systems, preferably with association? related or PC based systems;
Knowledge of and experience with business productivity software, line-of-business applications (CRM, AMS, Personify), broadcast communication platforms, web development, and IP Telephony systems/software (Cisco);
Extensive experience with database architecture, configuration, and integration (MSSQL);
Experience with SQL server maintenance and configuration;
Experience with CMS platforms, particularly DNN a plus;
Experience with ad-hoc querying and report building using native database tools (SSRS) or business intelligence platforms (Business Objects, etc.);
Familiarity with trusted vendor products and services including Windows server operating systems, Microsoft Office product suites, and Cisco networking and communication solutions;
This position can completely assess the most complex systems and models. This typically involves large, interdependent systems, new technologies, and broad implications for the IT architecture;
Ability to analyze and solve technical problems, even those never before encountered in the organization;

Supervises two staff members
In depth knowledge of all Microsoft Office product suites and component applications;
In depth knowledge of Cisco IP telephony platform and unified communication;
Use of general office equipment; And
Perform other duties as assigned.
Dayshift hours primarily but flexibility for off-hour assignments;
On call as necessary to ensure business continuity; and
Must be willing to travel, sometimes on short notice as needed. Travel and other work related assignments on weekends expected on an ad hoc basis.
