Posting Summary: This position is responsible for managing the department's financial operating budget and providing monthly financial reports to the director. This position works closely with upper management to prepare risk analysis data as needed. This position also may coordinate information technology, acts as the website administrator and manages the human resource activities. This position will also be trained to take on the following insurance related responsibilities: managing the University's insurance programs including the Medical Center and College at Wise; managing the University's self-insurance funds to ensure that current funding is adequate to pay for losses; managing the University's property, contents and automobile values in coordination with the Division of Risk Management; obtaining insurance loss exposure information; developing insurance premiums and determining premium cost allocations.
Required Minimum Level of Education: *Degree or Equivalent Experience Required
Required Specific Degree/Training: 2 year degree required
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Required Specific Experience: Experience working in UVa budgeting and financial systems.
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Considerable - 4 to 7 years
Preferred Specific Experience: Higher Education Insurance Programs SIR Funding Risk Analysis IT Support
Preferred License or Certification: Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: --Knowledge of and ability to manage complex budgetary responsibilities for the Property & Liability Risk Management Office and its self-insurance funding operations
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -- Knowledge of the University's property, equipment breakdown, general liability, crime, automobile liability and physical damage, medical malpractice, fidelity and fiduciary coverage and the incidental insurance programs --Knowledge of and ability to translate complex insurance and risk management programs into working practices and guidelines, and provide nuanced technical advice and information --Knowledge of and ability to plan and direct the implementation and modification of insurance premium development methodologies for the University --Knowledge of and ability to interpret risk exposures for University operations and translate that into viable risk financing alternatives to protect the University against financial loss. Training can be provided to the right person.
