The Data Analytics Associate reports to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and supports evidence-based decision making related to institutional research, accreditation, strategic and grant-funded initiatives. This position provides analysis of large and/or complex databases of information for the purposes of informing decision making and ensuring accurate and meaningful data reporting. The Data Analytics Associate develops, deploys, and maintains automated reporting systems, web-based dashboards and SQL database environments to improve data access and analysis capabilities for college administrators, staff, and faculty.
Operate a variety of research, statistical, and analytic computer application programs (e.g., SQL Server Reporting Services [SSRS], SQL Server Management Studio [SSMS], Tableau, SPSS, statistical applications of Microsoft Access and Excel).
Collaborate with information technology (IT) team members to develop, deploy, and maintain web-based reporting systems, scorecards and dashboards, utilizing business intelligence tools.
Design, implement, and maintain data systems in SQL/ Oracle environments to support automated reporting; extract, transform, and load (ETL); and data integrity management.
Develop, deploy, and maintain web-based reporting systems, scorecards and dashboards to display and summarize student characteristics, enrollment, retention, graduation, post-college employment, etc.
Identify and use automated and sustainable reporting solutions that collect, aggregate, and disseminate data and metrics to various groups within and outside of the college, including state, national, governmental, and other external agencies.
Understand and apply legal and ethical components involved in conducting research and analysis (e.g., FERPA, human subjects protection).
Serve as a member on committees that require data or accountability/performance measures as determined by the Director of Institutional Effectiveness.
Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (with coursework in SQL database development, business intelligence) OR Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert certification.
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Experience with data modeling techniques and demonstrated ability to create, deploy and maintain large relational databases and data warehouses in a SQL or Oracle environment.
Experience designing and deploying interactive web-based dashboards using development tools such as Tableau or Oracle Business Intelligence Applications.
Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to translate raw data into information and knowledge through the use of data visualizations and reports.
Excellent oral/written communication skills; ability to write clearly and concisely.
Master's degree from an accredited institution in a related field with coursework in SQL database development, business intelligence.
Working knowledge of data mining tools and analytics.
Experience as a database administrator.
Experience using PeopleSoft and/or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technologies.
Ability to effectively deal with ambiguity and changing project requirements.
Ability to successfully participate and collaborate with others and be responsive in working relationships.
