Our client, located in the Washington, Pa. area, is seeking a Data Architect. This person will work as part of the Information Technology Service Design team to architect databases necessary for all business lines. Transform data to allow for standardization in fields required for reporting engines utilized. Provide access to data fields requested by the Business Intelligence group for reporting. Utilize best practices to design new databases and systems or augment existing databases to allow for access to necessary information.
Develop database design and life cycle plans for new efforts or new applications requested by the IT Senior Management or Project Management teams.
Document detailed design requirements for hand off to the Information Technology Service Transition team.
Work with Information Technology Service Design Manager to determine service level management related to any new database or new database engine added to the environment.
Maintain assigned portions of the Information Technology Service Catalog related to database technologies.
Develop design plans for new databases that will include: continuity planning, availability management, capacity management, security management, and supplier and vendor support management.
Manage relationship with database and related technologies vendor sales and engineering teams to ensure contracts and maintenance agreed upon line up with defined service levels.
Work with Microsoft SQL, IBM DB2, or Oracle databases to determine best practice to extract an integrate information that needs to be made available for reporting.
Administer Data Management platform and assist with Extract, Transform, and Load activity.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other computer-related field, or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three to five years of work experience with database administration/engineering duties.
Strong knowledge of Oracle, Microsoft SQL or IBM DB2 database technologies.
Strong experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL, or IBM DB2 database administration functions.
Experience with database optimization.
Strong documentation skills including the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Visio.
Experience with Data Analytics tools and techniques.
Experience with data warehousing and modeling preferred.
Knowledge with installing/administering Oracle 10/11g, including Oracle Enterprise Server Edition strongly preferred.
