This individual will lead the methods development for various Optum products that go to the market. These methods will be complex in nature and cross a wide range of issues that deal with measuring health care services including cost, utilization, quality and risk. Primary Responsibilities:Predictive modeling, data manipulation, reporting, and analysis Methodology and statistical modeling using languages such as: SAS, R, or Python Understanding of health care data including ICD9 & CPT coding, financials and organizational structures (health plans, providers, employers, accountable care organizations) Communicate effectively with leaders across the organization and external customers Work on multiple projects at the same time, meeting deadlines as agreed with our development and project partners Work effectively on multidisciplinary teams Create innovative solutions that line up with the ever-changing needs of the health care system Document findings, including assumptions and validation work in a clear structured manner Summarize and present findings; adjust the content and level of detail to appropriate level of the audience Use strong business, problem solving skills and programming knowledge to quickly cycle hypotheses through discovery Utilize data from several data sources to support solution features, train and drive test models Direct/mentor the work of others Utilize strong written and communication skills to provide concise and clear analysis to management
Required Qualifications:Degree in quantitative field, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics or similar 5+ years of Predictive Analytics experience 5+ years of data analytics experience 3+ years of Machine Learning/Data Science programming experience with languages such as: R, Python, SAS, Scala, Java or similar stack Knowledge of healthcare administrative data (medical claims, enrollment, provider data) or clinical data systems (Electronic medical records, hospital monitoring systems, etc.) Demonstrated capability in driving business result through modeling and segmentation implementation, analysis and refinement Locations available for this role: Minnetonka, MN & Boston, MAPreferred QualificationsExperience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, H2o and others Experience with one or more of the following Machine Learning and Cognitive technologies: IBM Watson, Amazon ML, Google Cloud ML, Azure ML Studio or equivalent product Experience incorporating Machine Learning & Al concepts into solution development in a professional capacity Experience with business intelligence tools Experience managing, mentoring or leading othersTechnology Careers with Optum.
