As the Sr. Data Analytics Consultant – Complex Care Management, you will be responsible for evaluating UHC's efforts to both improve the quality and reduce the cost of health care for our members. You will investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of quality, utilization and health care cost data. Primary Responsibilities: Work directly with plan Chief Medical Officer, Director of Project Management & Analytics, Senior Quality Director, Health Services Directors, and Chief Financial OfficerAssesses and interprets stakeholder needs and requirementsWorking with complex raw healthcare claims and clinical data (e.g., extracting data from SQL, Oracle and other environments), recognizing data patterns and potential issues, making recommendations (e.g., design, create and implement quality improvement projects)Assume responsibility for data integrity among various internal and external sourcesPerforming data extraction, aggregation, and quality checking from multiple sources and tables in support of validation and measurement, trend identification, root cause analysis, forecasting and presenting information for operational and strategic business activities, for quality improvement and medical expense reduction initiatives, and for practice transformation Performing statistical analyses to determine effectiveness of clinical programs (e.g., pre-post analysis, clinical trial results)Developing scalable reporting processes and querying data sources to conduct and distribute regular and ad hoc analysesCommunicating findings to cross-functional teams and stakeholders in the enterprise, including management and executive teamIdentifies solutions to non-standard requests and problemsResearching new approaches and methods to improve the quality and cost of careParticipate in Quality Improvement work groups Develop detailed understanding of state specific requirements, requests and pay for performance structures to create processes that satisfy regulatory requirements and to help drive quality improvement programs to a successPartnering with quality management, disease management, service coordination, and other health plan managers around the trends we are seeing to re-educate, re-train, coach and counsel staff when indicated
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Statistics, or Health Administration or related field (master's preferred) 2+ years' of analysis and reporting experience2+ years' Managed care or healthcare experience Experience working in an Enterprise Data Warehouse environmentMultiple years of experience with either SAS or Enterprise Business Intelligence tools (SAP Business Objects, IBM Cognos, Oracle Hyperion System, Oracle BI)Experience using SAS or SQL query techniques to access relational databasesProficient with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Access; creating Acrobat (PDF) reportsPreferred Qualifications5+ years' of analysis and reporting experience1+ year of Quality Improvement, quality management experienceSolid understanding of the drivers of medical costs, and experience recommending medical cost improvements and alternative pricing strategiesAble to work in Sugar Land, Texas office4+ years' of work experience in a corporate settingStrong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and concepts effectivelyStrong interpersonal skills and ability to interact collaboratively with internal customers across multiple departments and business segmentsSelf-motivated to manage multiple complex projects and multiple priorities simultaneouslyCareers at UnitedHealthcare Community & State.
